Mike Kappus, founder of the rhythm 'n blues artists' Rosebud Agency, came to San Francisco from the Midwest in 1976. He came to join an agency that, unfortunately, went under less than three months after he arrived. Enamored with the city and seeing that no one else was involved in the niches Kappus appreciated most, he started the Rosebud Agency. Mike now has 36 years experience as a promoter, talent buyer, club owner, agent, and manager.

The Rosebud Agency's policy, from the start, has been to focus on the artists' musical integrity more than their immediate commercial potential. Rosebud chooses to limit the number of artists they represent to insure the best possible service to each one.

Rosebud is unique in that they work worldwide as both a management company and booking agency. Rosebud has a roster of 25+ artists from three continents. Artists with Rosebud Management include Robert Cray, Loudon Wainwright III and J J Cale, and formerly the late John Lee Hooker. Rosebud artists under booking agreements are Ben Harper, Booker T. Jones and Cubanismo!

Mike Kappus, still President and CEO of Rosebud, is currently working on environmental and social causes, using his extensive musical background as a tool to further important issues in these two areas.
